Delivery time is the question EU vape buyers ask most often, and the honest answer depends on one thing above all others: whether the parcel is already inside the customs union. Here is how that plays out in practice, what actually causes delays, and what to check when an order is slower than expected. Seasonal peaks are a separate pattern, covered in the peak season delivery guide.
The single biggest factor: where it ships from
An order sent from within the EU travels as an ordinary domestic-style parcel. An order sent from outside the EU enters through customs, which means import handling, possible duty and VAT collection, and a delay that no courier can promise its way around.
That is why stock location matters more than carrier choice. For country-by-country rules on three of our northern destinations, see our guide to shipping vapes to Poland, Czechia and Sweden. Devices held in an EU warehouse are already cleared and ready to move; the same device shipped from outside the EU is effectively a different product from a logistics point of view, however similar the price looks at checkout.
Typical delivery windows across the EU
For tracked parcels moving between EU countries, most orders arrive within a few working days, with the exact window depending on distance and on whether the destination is a major city or a remote region:
- Germany and neighbouring countries: usually the fastest band — often a small number of working days.
- France, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland: typically a short step behind domestic delivery, still measured in working days.
- Spain, Italy, Portugal and the Nordics: longer transit because of distance and fewer direct line-haul routes.
- Islands and remote postcodes: allow additional time; island routes are frequently served by ferry legs that do not run daily.
Our shipping page lists the current destinations, carriers and expected windows, and it is the page to trust if anything here disagrees with it — carriers change routes more often than articles get updated.
What actually causes delays
In practice, late parcels are rarely a mystery. The usual causes, roughly in order of frequency:
- Age verification at delivery. Vaping products are age-restricted, so a courier may require an adult signature. If nobody with ID is home, the parcel goes back for another attempt — this is the single most common reason an order "sits".
- Order timing. An order placed late on a Friday effectively starts moving on Monday.
- Public holidays. National holidays in either the origin or destination country stop the line-haul, and consecutive holidays are worse than isolated ones.
- Stock status. If an item was showing low stock, it may have needed replenishment before dispatch.
- Address details. Apartment or unit numbers missing from the street line, or a name that does not match the ID presented, will hold a parcel at the depot.
- Weather and peak season. Winter storms and the pre-holiday rush slow every carrier simultaneously.
How to make delivery as smooth as possible
- Enter your address exactly as it appears on official mail, including floor and door details.
- Use a name that matches the ID the courier may ask for.
- Choose a delivery address where an adult is likely to be present during working hours.
- Order early in the week when timing is tight.
- Keep the tracking number handy — see the order tracking page for how to check status, and see our guide to tracking your vape order for what each status means. If a larger order arrives as several parcels, that is expected rather than a problem — why one order ships in parts explains the split.
Understanding the tracking stages
Tracking statuses confuse people mostly because the wording is carrier-specific. Broadly, a parcel moves through: order received, dispatched from warehouse, in transit between hubs, out for delivery, and delivered or awaiting collection. A parcel can sit at "in transit" for a full day or more without anything being wrong — international line-haul is not scanned continuously. The status that genuinely warrants action is "delivery attempted" with no successful handover, because that is when the parcel starts heading back.
If your order is late
- Check the carrier tracking first — in most cases the parcel is moving and simply has not been scanned recently.
- Confirm that a delivery attempt was not made while you were out, and check whether a collection notice was left.
- If the tracking has not changed for several working days, contact support with the order number so the carrier can be queried from the sender side. A sender-side trace is far more effective than a recipient enquiry.
Buying across borders: what stays the same
Within the EU, an order that ships from an EU warehouse does not generate customs paperwork for you, and VAT is handled in the normal way rather than collected at your door. That is the practical benefit: no unexpected fee to pay before handover, and no extra step where a parcel can stall.
You can see what is currently in EU stock in the EU warehouse collection or browse everything in the shop. If you are still deciding what to order, our guides section covers capacity, nicotine strength and device types.
None of those restrictions apply inside the single market — but if your destination is outside the EU, our Norway and UK rules guide explains what changes at the border.
One variable that can stop a parcel entirely is customs — the 2026 import-VAT and duty rules are decoded in our customs guide.
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay customs on vape orders inside the EU?
No. There is no customs border between EU member states, so an order shipped from an EU warehouse does not create import duty or a customs handling fee for the recipient.
Why was my delivery attempted but not left?
Age-restricted products may require an adult signature. If no adult was available, the courier will normally try again or leave the parcel for collection.
Can I change the delivery address after ordering?
Usually only before dispatch. Once a parcel is with the carrier, redirection depends on that carrier's own service, and not all offer it for age-restricted goods.
Does a larger order take longer?
Size is rarely the issue for parcels within normal weight limits. Availability of the specific devices is the more common reason for a delay.
If a delivery goes wrong rather than arriving late, your options are covered in our returns and warranty guide.
