What a "puff" actually means
A puff rating is not a laboratory measurement of how many times you can inhale. It is calculated from the volume of e-liquid inside the device divided by an assumed puff size — usually around 1 ml per 100 puffs, based on a short 2–3 second draw. Manufacturers then round to a clean marketing number.
That is why the rating is best treated as a capacity figure, not a promise. Two vapers using the same 20,000-puff bar can finish it two weeks apart, because the real variable is how long and how often you draw.
Puff count → real-world lifespan
The table below assumes e-liquid capacity scales with the rating and shows a typical range. "Light" means roughly 150–250 puffs a day, "heavy" means 600–800.

Most people guess wildly wrong here. A quick way to find your number: count a single session. A 10-minute break with steady draws is usually 40–60 puffs. Multiply by how many sessions you take.

Why your bar runs out earlier than the rating suggests
Three things quietly shorten real-world life:
- Long, deep draws. A 5-second pull can consume nearly twice the e-liquid of the 2-second draw used for the rating.
- High wattage modes. Boost or "power" modes vapourise more liquid per puff for a bigger cloud.
- Airflow wide open. More air per draw means more liquid pulled through the coil.
If you want to hit the advertised number, use normal mode, moderate airflow, and short draws. If you want the biggest cloud, expect roughly 60–70 % of the rating.
Does a higher puff count mean better flavour?
Not directly — but it usually means more consistent flavour. Bigger devices carry larger coils, more wicking material and better airflow, so flavour does not degrade as fast near the end. Volume, not puff count, is what drives flavour quality, which is why a well-built 25K device often tastes better than a cheap 40K one.
